SUNDAY, DAY 1

Departure aboard El Al Israel Airlines non-stop flight at 1:10 pm from Pearson International Airport to Israel. Flying time is approx. 11 hours

MONDAY, DAY 2

Morning welcome to Ben Gurion Airport. Meet our representative who will escort you through customs to your awaiting guide and bus.  On your way to Jerusalem, visit the biblical landscape reserve of Neot Kedumim, where you will see hundreds of varieties of Biblical and Talmudic plants, ancient and reconstructed olive and wine presses. Here you will participate in the Israeli tradition of tree planting. Ascend the Judean Mountains and upon arriving in Jerusalem, stop at a viewpoint overlooking the Old City and celebrate your arrival with a special She’hecheyanu ceremony, a blessing used to offer thanks for new and unusual experiences. Early check-in to your hotel.

Welcome dinner at the Olive and Fish Restaurant.

TUESDAY, DAY 3

After an early breakfast, depart to the Dead Sea area and descend to the lowest land point on earth below sea level. Continue south to the legendary mountaintop plateau of Massada and ascend by cable car to the ancient fortress.  Explore the site with its synagogue and bathhouse. Here, was the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in their struggle against the Romans.  Drive to one of the beaches andfloat in the buoyant waters of the Dead Sea.  Drive through the hills of Judea to the “Genesis Land“. Here, “Abraham” and his family who will host us for a biblical-style dinner in their tent. This unusual location will appeal to both adults and children alike as they reenact their favorite characters from the Bible. Here you will also be able to take a Camel Ride!

WEDNESDAY, DAY 4

After breakfast visit Yad Vashem, the primary memorial and museum of the Holocaust. Take your time as you walk through the newly renovated Holocaust History Museum, which occupies over 4,200 square meters, mainly underground. Visit Mount Herzl, Israel’s national cemetery where we can visit the gravesites of Israel’s greatest political leaders and military heroes, including Theodore Herzl, Ze’ev Jabotinski, and Yitzhak Rabin.

Continue to the Machane Yehuda Market with a Shuk Bites Card that allows you to taste the shopkeepers’ daily specials.  The Market Tour is full of flavors and fragrances in and around the market and includes fascinating stories, a bit of history, and tastings of some of the unique market delicacies – homemade halva, natural health drinks, and more.

THURSDAY, DAY 5

MAZAL TOV!!

After an early breakfast checkout of the hotel, enter the Old City and head for the Southern Wall Excavations

Visit the Davidson Center, one of the most significant archeological sites in the country. At Robinson’s Arch we will hold the Bar Mitzvah ceremony. Afterwards we will have a celebratory brunch. On to holiest place in Judaism today, the Western Wall – “Kotel

Continue to the City of David, the newest and exciting excavations of Jerusalem during the time of the First Temple period. Descend through the many layers of Jerusalem’s past at the time of the Temple through the Western Wall Tunnels. Inside, a most interesting model shows the different dwelling periods and history of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

At night we will go to Tower of David to see the famous Sound and Light Show which displays the history of the city of Jerusalem.

FRI DAY, DAY 6

After breakfast check out of hotel and depart for the North.

First stop is Beit Alpha to see the famous zodiac mosaic floor in the ancient synagogue

Head up to Mount Arbel, The peak, 380 meters above the surrounding area, dominates the area and from the lookout atop the mountain, one can see almost all of the Galilee, into the Golan Heights and most of the Sea of Galilee. Drive through the lakeside city of Tiberiasresting on shores of the Sea of Galilee. Take a boat ride on the calm waters.

SATURDAY, DAY 7

After breakfast take an exciting 4×4 jeep ride tour of the Golan Heights, enjoying its physical beauty with its scenic hills, to learn the strategic importance and history of the land.  Continue to the Har Bental overlook.  From this former military base we can look into Syria and learn about the village of Kuneitra and the 1967 & 1973 Wars.

Afterwards visit Oz 77 and will see a dramatic film about the 1973 Yom Kippur War.  This is the site of the main Syrian attack and where only a few Israeli tanks held off a massive armored assault against the IDF.  Pay tribute to those that fell defending the Jewish state at the most important memorial on the Golan Heights. 

At the Hula Lake take a Safari Wagon ride through the natural vegetation and along the waters’ edge. Here you will spot many small animals and hundreds of birds now living in the Reserve.  The lake in the Hula Valley is one of the favorite resting places of migrating birds on their route between Europe and Africa.

SUNDAY, DAY 8

After breakfast start the day with a short walk in the Tel Dan Reserve, a beautiful paradise that lies in the ancient city ruins of Dan. Walk down the gorgeous trails leading through dense forest and the Chatzbani River.  Continue to the Mystical City of Safed (the birthplace of Kabbalah) one of the Four Holy Cities according to tradition with its Kabalistic studies. Stroll through the narrow, winding alleyways, visit some of the beautiful synagogues and browse through the artists’ workshops and galleries in the flourishing artists’ quarter. Visit the Galil Mountain Winery. Take a special tour and partake in some wine tasting afterwards. Take a the fast speed Mountain Slide which, stretches along a spectacular 1200-meter panoramic course, that takes you to the top of the Manara Cliff for a superb viewpoint of the Hula Valley.

MONDAY, DAY 9

After breakfast travel to the ancient crusader port city of Acre, the fascinating UNESCO town with new excavations 1000 years old. Visit the Crusader Halls to see the exciting underground tunnels. Arrive in Haifa and ascend Mt. Carmel for a panoramic view of Haifa Bay and the beautiful Baha’i Gardens with it’s impressive temples. Stop at a Druze village to enjoy their hospitality and so learn about this great community that lives in Israel and serves in its army. Visit the ancient city of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great and once the seat of Roman rule. View the excavated Roman amphitheater, and view the aqueduct, once used for conveying water to the city.

Continue to Tel Aviv

TUESDAY, DAY 10

After breakfast start the day at the Palmach Museum where through a modern multi-media presentation you feel like you are participating in the War of Independence and the establishment of the State of Israel. Next visit the spiritually moving Independence Hall.  Take a step back in time to listen to David Ben Gurion’s moving Declaration of Independence which ended 2,000 years of Jewish yearning for a return to the land of Israel. Spend the afternoon in the Old Port City of Jaffa (Yafo), just south of Tel Aviv for a panoramic view of Tel Aviv and a sense of the first Jewish city of the modern era, established in 1909. Visit the various markets and galleries in this city. Continue to the famous open air craft market at Nachalat Binyamin and see modern Tel Aviv in action.

WEDNESDAY, DAY 11

After breakfast, join the ‘underground’ at the Ayalon Institute, where a once-secret Haganah munitions factory existed during the Mandate Period under Britain.  The factory and its products played an important role for the Haganah underground and later, during the War of Independence, for the newly born Israel Defense Forces. Prepare to ‘get dirty’ as you participate in an archaeological dig of Tel Maresha at Beit Guvrin. Discover pottery from the Maccabees’ time to get an appreciation for the tedious work of archaeologists! 

At night enjoy a farewell dinner in Tel Aviv and reminisce over your experiences in Israel.

Those remaining in Israel to visit Eilat will return to the hotel. Those returning to Canada will transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for the return flight aboard El Al Israel Airlines.

THURSDAY, DAY 12

Those returning to Canada

Just after midnight depart aboard El Al Israel Airlines non-stop flight from Ben Gurion International Airport to Toronto. Arrival in Terminal Three of Pearson International Airport at approx. 6:40 am the same day. Flying time is about 13 hours.

Those continuing to Eilat

After  breakfast, start your drive South to Eilat.

Just outside Beersheva, visit the Israel Air Force Museum.  The museum represents a huge collection of airplanes and helicopters, which were the part of standard equipment of the Israel Air Force. Head towards Mitzpe Ramon and take an exciting 4×4 Jeep tour of the desert crater and learn about this amazing and beautiful landscape.

Continue to Eilat.

FRIDAY, DAY 13

Underwater Observatory and see the full spectrum of sea life that lives in the Red Sea

Enjoy a range of water sports available in Eilat, from a paddle-boat to scuba diving and underwater snorkeling, water-skiing and windsurfing.  You might also take a sail on one of the glass-bottomed boats and watch the beauty of the sea world with its colorful fishes and bewitching corals.

SATURDAY, DAY 14

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy your last day relaxing.

Late checkout of the hotel and transfer to Eilat Airport for your domestic flight to Tel Aviv.

On arrival, transfer to Ben Gurion International Airport for your flight home.
