Day 1
Arrive Israel  D

Arrival in Tel Aviv where you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Tel Aviv.

Day 2
Tel Aviv/The Coastal Road/Akko   B/D

At dawn, those who wish will proceed to the crusader town of Jaffa for sunrise pictures overlooking the Mediterranean and a tour of this restored fortress. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Travel north heading to Caesarea. View the amazing aqueduct, located on the beach—one of the favorite spots for beach photography in Israel.

Continue to the modern port city of Haifa ascending Mt. Carmel for a breathtaking view of the Baha’i Gardens and Golden Shrine. Drive to the area of the German Colony. Travel on to the ancient Crusader City of Akko and marvel at the massive excavations of the castle. Tour the underground city with time later to stroll through the ancient.  Overnight in Akko.

Day 3
Akko/The Road to the Galilee/Upper Galilee B/D

Today your photo opportunities will include sites located in the northern region of Israel. Drive eastward to the ancient city of Safed known as the center of Kabbalah, the study of Jewish Mysticism.  Continue north to Banias, the major source of the Jordan River, the Nature Reserve of Tel Dan, and “Agamon Hachula”, a nature photographer’s heaven and one of the largest bird sanctuaries in Europe. Arrive at a Kibbutz Guest House for a two-night stay.

Day 4
Upper Galilee and Golan tour   B/D

Today we tour the Holy sites around the Sea of Galilee, also known as the Kinneret. Drive to the southern Golan Heights to visit Katzrin and enjoy a winery tour with wine and olive oil tasting. Not far from here is Gamla, the historic site relating the battle between the ancient Jewish defenders and the Roman legions. Capture the beauty of the mustard seed plants as they come into their springtime blooming. Return to your hotel for overnight.

Day 5
The Road to Jerusalem  B/D

Depart southward passing Tiberias and stopping at Yardenit, the traditional baptismal site at the Jordan River. Then stop for a tour and photo opportunities of Beit She’an, one of the largest Roman/Byzantine cities ever excavated in the Middle East.  Continue on to Tzippori (Sepphoris), an ancient site known for its amazing mosaic works.  Our bus travels through Samaria. Note the change from greenery to the Judean Desert as we take a turn west to approach Jerusalem for a 5-night stay.

Day 6
Full Day to the Dead Sea Region    B/D

Traveling outside of Jerusalem we head south east to the Dead Sea to visit Wadi Kelt, a great canyon gorge in the Judean wilderness. Afterwards a short hike takes us to the St. George Monastery built on the mountain cliff for photo opportunities. Heading south to Masada, we ascend by cable car to the mountaintop fortress.  At the top of Masada you will have an outstanding overview of the Dead Sea itself. Proceed to Kibbutz Qumran for lunch and then free time to enjoy the beach floating on the salty mineral laden waters before returning to Jerusalem.

Day 7
Jerusalem/The Old City   B/D

Spend the day exploring the Christian, Jewish, Armenian and Muslim quarters, alleyways and religious sites, including the Temple Mount, Southern Wall excavations and Western Wall. Spend time walking along the Via Dolorosa.   A unique photo opportunity will include a walk along the ancient city ramparts and rooftops of the old city exploring special new angles, including an amazing Ethiopian “village” hiding on top of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Spend time in the Church and then proceed to the ancient City of David for a walk through the Hezekiah tunnel. Later in the afternoon visit the colorful open market at Machane Yehuda. This evening wander along Jerusalem’s busiest retail shopping areas, Ben Yehuda Street or Mamilla Street.

Day 8
Jerusalem/ Mt Scopus/ The New City B/D

The tour will start with the amazing view from Mount Scopus where some of the best pictures of Jerusalem can be taken. We will visit the spectacular Center for Near East Studies, a division of Brigham Young University. Our day will continue at Yad Vashem Memorial honouring the victims of the Holocaust.  Feel free to wander through the outdoor sculpture garden, a great opportunity for art photo shooting. Stop at the new amazing cables/ strings bridge built by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. Return to the hotel and capture the sunset from the outdoor terrace.

Day 9 Tuesday
Mt of Olives/ Garden of Gethsemane and Garden Tomb/ Bethlehem B/D

Proceed to the Mt. of Olives for a spectacular view of the Old City. Experience   a walk downhill through the ancient Jewish Cemetery with views of the Church of Mary Magdalene and Orson Hyde Park. Enter the Garden of Gethsemane admiring the ancient olive trees and Church of All Nations. Proceed to the Garden Tomb and enjoy the serenity of this holy location. Later we drive south to the Israeli/Palestinian border to enter Bethlehem. Our afternoon includes a full tour of Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity. Return to Jerusalem.

Day 10
Madaba/Mt Nebo/ Petra B/D

Transfer to the Airport for departure flight home for those not taking the optional extension.

For those extending, depart Jerusalem and cross the Israeli-Jordanian border to Madaba to see the ancient mosaic map of the Holy Land and ruins of historical sites. Continue to Mount Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land. From there you will see the Jordan Valley, Jericho, the Dead Sea and more. Visit the remains of the Byzantine Church with its mosaic floor and proceed via Shobak Castle to Wadi Musa, the modern village of Petra. Be prepared for an outstanding dusk photo opportunity. Overnight in Petra.

Day 12
Petra B/D

Ride on horseback into the “Siq” (Canyon). Then continue by foot as we actually enter Petra, “the rose-red” city created by the Nabateans.  We will spend the entire day in Petra to afford you every opportunity for photos. Overnight in Petra.

Day 13
Petra – Tel Aviv   B/D

Take advantage of sunrise photography and then depart Petra returning across the Jordan River to Tel Aviv airport for your scheduled flight home.

Tours are based on a minimum of 20 participants and are guaranteed outside 14 days of departure. Bookings made within 14 days of departure are on a request basis.
