Jerusalem has been ranked seventh in the world in the World’s Best Awards 2026 by the travel magazine Travel + Leisure. The city also earned first place in the Africa and Middle East category. The ranking is based on the magazine’s annual readers’ survey, which attracted more than 207,000 participants and generated over 661,000 votes across cities, hotels, airlines, cruise lines and other tourism-related businesses worldwide. This year marks the first time that Jerusalem has entered the top 10 cities worldwide in the ranking.
Artists from Israel and abroad will gather in Jerusalem this summer for the fifth edition of the Jerusalem Lyric Opera Festival, a five-day celebration of opera, chamber music and vocal performance held across some of the city’s leading cultural institutions from July 26-30. Among this year’s highlights are Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Così fan tutte, alongside concerts dedicated to the music of Handel and Vivaldi and a special program featuring works composed by Jewish women during the Second World War.
The Ministry of Tourism and the Old Akko Development Company have launched an innovative and spectacular audiovisual experience at the Crusader Fortress in Old Akko. The powerful video-mapping show transforms the ancient stone walls into a living journey through thousands of years of the city’s history. The new nighttime show, which runs for approximately 35 minutes, was carefully adapted to the Fortress’s architecture, stone arches and courtyard spaces, allowing the historic structure itself to become an integral part of the story.
